The MUSE

He encourages me and supports me.
He's helped me learn that I don't have to be afraid of MYSELF!
Every day is a new day to be bigger and better and stronger.
He has given me a platform where I can express my own opinions and
FIND my own VOICE.
"Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes."
He IS my MUSE
and he INSPIRES me to be ME more and more EVERY DAY!

Explanation and definition of MUSE:

(03/11/2011)

  1. Greek Mythology. Any of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, each of whom presided over a different art or science.
  2. a. A guiding spirit. b. A source of inspiration.
  3. A poet

A muse can be any person you meet in your lifetime that opens you up to yourself in a deeper more positive way and becomes the catalyst for change in you. A guiding spirit that brings the best out of you and makes you better and more of yourself than you have ever been. They will definitely be a source of inspiration to you and maybe even encourage YOU to be inspirational for others. Whatever things they bring you can be sure that they are things that help you to learn and grow and be better than you were before they came. If you are lucky enough to have or find a muse then you should cherish every moment, every lesson. I appreciate MINE and I will ALWAYS.

Poetry inspired by the MUSE:

Regardless

01/15/2011

You are who you are.
I am who I am.
We are who we are to each other.
As we have always been.
As we will always be.
Our hearts were tied together...
as they were meant to be
Regardless of choice
Regardless of life
Regardless of anyone else
Or anything
You are my muse
Life is better with you in it.

Reflections in MY Muse

02/15/2011

I stand before you
real and raw
and see
the reflection
of
all the better parts
of myself
you are the mirror
through which
I see
a new perception
good
for growth
and change
and acceptance
of the parts of me
that are
loveable
intelligent
capable
beautiful
strong
the mind and spirit and heart
of your reflection
compliment me
and open my eyes
to see myself
with
forgiveness

A Father's LOVE

06/19/2011

I wrote this poem for my friend, my muse who has a harder time than most father's and I wanted him to know that SOMEONE knows and appreciates his struggles.

A Father's LOVE

He is missing
All the things
We take for granted
Every day.
Kisses on the cheek
A small hand placed in his
I love you daddy!
Snuggles in the bed in early morning.
All the hugs and cuddles
That make life with children
A life of JOY

He is far away from them
Enduring heartache
Every day
While he tries to make a living
Tries to make their lives better
Their future brighter
His choice is one
Of deep love and commitment
He has unbelievable faith
That such separation will be worth it
In the end

He hopes his children
Will one day
Truly understand
The sacrifice he has made
The love he has for them
That leaving them behind
For any length of time
Is not his first choice
Nor really any choice at all
But something he must do
To provide a better life for them

I applaud his strength
To make the only choice he can
To endure the ache
To work as hard as he can
To hope for some miracle
To have faith in himself
To know that someday
Everything he is doing
For his children, for his family
Will be understood and appreciated.

For those of you who have your father with you, remember once in awhile to show him appreciation for who he is and what he does with you and for you because some children have to endure long separations from theirs and it's not easy to miss your dad when he's gone.

The Mirror That is ME

02/27/2012

I look into your soul
and see
a reflection
of myself

sometimes
the similarities
are difficult
to see

but it is truth
that
I see in you
many parts of myself

and through you
and the experiences
we share
I find myself

more and more
I see
that
YES! like meets like

and we grow
better together
through shared experiences
hopes and dreams

through the mirror
reflecting
you to me and me in you
I find more of myself

and I learn
who I am
who I am not
and who I want to be

thank you for being the light
reflecting myself back to me
and the mirror through which
I SEE myself

thank you for being with me
and being my teacher
my soulmate
my FRIEND

Hakuna Matata

04/01/2012

hakuna matata
it means
there are no worries
in Swahili
it is a phrase
the muse and I share
when he reminds me
not to stress
to breath
and not to worry
to be happy
when he says it
i smile
because i immediately
begin singing
Hakuna Matata
in my head
and thinking...
"it's a problem free
philosophy"
but it WORKS
because then I try
NOT to stress
and NOT to worry
but rather
to breath
and to BE
in the moment
in the now
without the worry
AND with THE JOY
you know
it's a good idea...
don't worry
be happy!

Thank You

05/15/2012

thank you
for
being my friend
opening a doorway
showing me more
than I have known before
offering your hand
in support and encouragement
nudging me
to step through the doorway
helping me find
my voice
giving me a space and a platform
to learn to speak it
listening
even when my voice shakes
but encouraging me
to continue
to be true
to myself and others
to learn
to grow
to open my heart
to give
and to offer my friendship
to them
thank you
for knowing me
accepting me
loving me
and
allowing me
to BE me

Miracle or Muse

06/25/2012

even a muse
needs a miracle
I smile...
it is a
circle
we complete
for each other
because
in order to be
a light
a strength
a mind
a heart
a voice
that people follow
and are inspired by
a miracle
needs a muse
to be
the inspiration
inspiring her
to be
an inspiration
while she
inspires the muse
to be
an inspiration
and so they feed each other
and build stronger
dreams
aspire to reach
even higher goals
and
shine
brighter light
in the world
a Miracle needs a Muse
and even a Muse needs a Miracle
thank God for you
and the wider world I see
because of YOU
